Overlooking Monastery Lake, the Sacred Heart campus is integrated into the adjacent, peaceful nature conservancy. The retreat-like setting of religious shrines and monuments allows for quiet prayer and meditation throughout the year.
This multiphased project includes two apartment buildings with 174 units for active and retired priests, and seniors, with underground parking. The project was phased to allow the residing priests to remain during the initial phase of construction. The independent living units were designed with amenities for future RCAC/assisted living needs. Most units have a private balcony or patio and include fully appointed kitchens and private laundry facilities.
Sustainable design features include solar domestic hot water system, high-efficiency windows, R-80 roof insulation, Energy Star light fixtures throughout, and advanced lighting and HVAC controls. The project design preserved adjacent wooded areas, stormwater measures were implemented to control runoff into Monastery Lake, and parking was reduced with a majority of the stalls located in a large parking basement.
