Winner of the 2020 Wisconsin IIDA Award of Excellence (Residential Category).
Historic rehabilitation of the one-story 1914 building and three-story 1930’s addition (the former La Crosse Plow Company) into a mixed-use development. This adaptive reuse was a historic tax credit project.
The renovated building includes commercial space on the first floor, apartments on the second and third floors, and a fourth-floor addition with a club room and rooftop patio. Apartment common amenities include fitness center, media room, craft/work space, business center, and a dog wash room.
Atriums with skylights were inserted to allow for natural light, and historic elements were saved and highlighted. Original doors and window openings were maintained. Extensive renovations included new historically accurate energy-efficient replacement windows, storefronts, and exterior masonry and concrete repair.
Additional awards include the 2019 Top Project Winner, The Daily Reporter.
