Carl’s interests in design, history, and the natural environment eventually led him to redirect his major from film to architecture. He graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design before receiving his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon.
Since graduation he has worked on projects of varying scales and types including office, office-lab, educational, and civic. He most enjoys work that restores or repurposes existing functions into sustainable, future oriented designs.
Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family, especially running together, playing year-round soccer, and working on house projects. Carl continues to pursue film as a hobby and is currently digitizing old family films from the 1960s and ‘70s.
